Michigan Census Records

about Finding Family!

According to the United States Census Bureau, the resident population of Michigan on April 1, 2010 was 9,883,640 (approx), a -0.6% decrease from the 2000 census.

The first Michigan Federal enumeration was conducted in the year 1800 and since then it continued every ten years. However, the 1890 census records were destroyed in the 1921 fire in the basement of the Commerce Building Washington, D.C.

Why census records?

Census data are essential to achieve useful information related to every Michigander, for instance address, number of house in order of visitation, name of head of family and other members in the family, age, race, gender, marriage details, education, profession, parents' details, immigration and citizenship details and many more relevant data. These historical records are the milestone to discover long-back family history and information.
